Birding help required

Sorry about the pic quality. This one has got me a bit confused. The neck ring and pale underside suggest Ringed Plover, but the bill seems too long.

  1. Hmmmnn. Shapes right, but no sign of the red legs and bill. Could be an immature, perhaps ? There were certainly oyster catchers about.

  2. Can't see the white collar clearly but maybe a sandpiper?

  3. Cheers, Ken. Crap fotie, but I think Alan "Oddie" Sloman is correct.
BTW, when do you start doing your old job as a "consultant" at five times the money ?

  4. 5 times the money...hmm...I think those days are gone.

Anyway they'll be paying me to stay away from now on!

  5. The beak is the clue - is this perhaps one of the best images of a possible oystercatcher that has ever been taken with a Nokia 1100?

  6. Is it a beak or a bill, Martin ? Never been quite sure of the difference.
Anyway, oyster catcher it is. And I am unanimous in that.
Dunno what a Nokia 1100 is, but I did drive a Vanden Plas 1100 for a while, before the rear sub-frame collapsed.

  7. A 'bill' is what you get from the Inland Revenue at this time of year!!
I used to drive my dad's Morris 1100. I crashed it before the sub-frame had a chance to collapse. It's possibly analogous to the Nokia 1100....
