Some of you may have been bemused and distressed by this outflowing of angst. Not, however, the Geek coterie among the readership, with their tweeters and their loom bands. They knew all the time that the dopey old git was one of the 20% of computer users cast adrift by the great god Microsoft and still struggling with Windows XP and IE8.And they were right.
Today I had a Road to Damascus (ok Causewayhead, actually) moment. The Flaming Pie that had appeared to St. John ("with an A") told me the answer in two words Firefox.
And so here we are.
It appears that I can now edit and manipulate text/pics/ clips and post Links
It's not perfect but then who amongst is ? Really ? OK, apart from you ?
Here's a couple of clips wot you missed from a previously deleted post
PS. After previewing it appears that the links dont work and that certain random (in its classical meaning) words appear in big blue letters, but not in the draft.
So it's as you were, I'm afraid.
(Flounces out stage left
It looks OK from the outside, as it were. No big blue letters. And your link - apparently very topical at the moment, as I understand it - worked quite the thing.
ReplyDeleteComputers. Whit are they like?
Yeah, you're right. It's been happening a lot to me these days - everywhere i go the Big Blue Letters seem to be following me.
DeleteYou are not alone. My ageing Apple will no longer update and blogger will only import photos to the top of the blog and then I have to drag them to the correct place.
ReplyDeleteWelcome. Thanks for commenting.
DeleteAs you might guess, I don't have the technical savvy to know if an alternative browser might solve your problem too. Good luck!
Have you tried trimming the, computer, wick and adjusting for a blue flame ?
ReplyDeleteObviously. What sort of idiot do you take me for ?
ReplyDeleteI have also bled the fuel lines, put the wee lever in neutral, greased all the nipples and fitted a new needle.
It must be something "electrical"
I have an ancient operating system - Vista - and I use Windows Live Writer - which of course is free. I've not had any problems using it for years now. You can place your piccies, videos and the like, wherever you want them.
ReplyDeleteYour excellent link worked fine, though it would be nice to make your links a more obvious colour so they don't slip past the unwary reader who has to go back and scan the words for ten minutes to find them - which is also easy to do using LIve Writer.
:-)
Yup. I was using Livewriter for some time (I think on your and Martin's recommendation) and found it a vast improvement on Blogger. However, earlier this year it appeared to stop accepting Youtube uploads. Now the easy ;istening element is essential to this blog, so i went back to Blogger, which took Youtube clips and that was about all it did.
DeleteMy next step now is to try Livewriter with the Firefox browser.
As far as the link is concerned, I now see what you did. Duhh. It's a piss-take isn't it ?
I recognise your breathless prose style and these photos of Andy Walker and Phil Lambert fool nobody.
I had the same difficulty with the YouthTube thing - But it's quite simple:
ReplyDeleteOn the YouTube page click on the Share tab, then 'Embed' - choosing the size you want. Then copy and paste the highlighted link into the body of the text on Live Writer where you want it to appear.
Done!
:-)
Thanks. It doesn't seem to be functioning at the moment, but our people are working on it as I speak
