Blog's been a bit funny today.

Well, makes a change,eh ? Starting at 6am, there has been a veritable orgy of pageviewing on here today. (Relatively speaking of course)

At first I suspected dodgy eastern European spammy stuff, but everyone seems to be arriving through the "usual suspects" blogs. So what then ?
Sunspots?
The thunder ?
Have details of the super injunction leaked out?
Virtual coach parties ?
Perhaps a rumour that I had died ?

All very worrying. Has anyone else being having a similar problem ?

Update Thursday morning

Seriously. It's still happening. Someone or something keeps coming on via the regular referring sites (pieblog, alansloman, phreerunner etc) and sometimes apparently via archive posts on these blogs. I can't seem to identify any pattern from the stats although a single ISP in Manchester seems to figure prominently. It's even more of a step-change than the Gear Review post, but without the "new" people leaving comments or becoming followers.

  1. No doubt this will start your subscription only Blog and I bet you want it paid in small used notes ! Do I get a discount for being a camp follower ?

  2. It's a nightmare Danny. It just won't stop. I don't know how you guys with the popular blogs put up with it!
I knew this would happen as soon as we let the riff raff in.You will of course qualify for a camp discount if you just post a clip of yourself doing any "I'm Julian and this is my friend Sandy" routine

  3. We all go around in a big circle clicking on a random blogger from the blog list on the side of the screen. This nonsense will stop if we take off all followers and Blog Lists from our home pages.

We'll all get a bit of peace and quiet then - in fact we won't see anyone at all! :D

I do wonder how many people actually read blogs. In the main I suspect only fellow bloggers with the odd exception of someone Googling on a particular subject - who will never again return.

I reckon all us bloggers who "know" each other via the blogs should just start a forum and save all the hard work of blogging. It'd save a lot of time and effort.

  8. Well, I'm one of those sad bloogers who found yer site through another...and, I've read it, enjoy it....makes me snigger at times. Being a Scot, I have an odd sense of humour, of course. Goes without saying. 'Tis good to know I've managed to puzzle and pee you off, hopefully in equal measure! BTW, I took guitar lesson with Wizz for a while about 25 years or so ago down Sarf London way. He's a fine lad, but will sup yon bitter beer!

  10. Scottish? Sixties? Blues? Ironic/surreal/sarcastic/aggressive/bathetic sense of humour?.
You certainly seem to tick most of the boxes, Iain.
Thanks for that information, Mike. I'll just pop over to Sitemeter and check if any of the ISPs are based in Antarctica.
